@Sally: How frustrating! Only other thing I can think of is a possible network issue. Try entering a comp on someone elses device (ie. smartphone) in your house (Using the same wifi connection). If you have the same problem, it could be your broadband provider, or/and the hardware (ie. cables, router etc). Most, if not all, have ‘troubleshooters’ (ie. Virgin Media etc), online to check. You may have to create an account if you haven’t already. Also maybe disconnect the router, unplugging, waiting a bit, then reconnect. Failing that, use your device on someone elses broadband (ie. A friends house).
