Toffee

Ingredients:

  • 330g sugar
  • 200g butter
  • 2 tbs vinegar
  • 60ml water
  • 60ml golden syrup

Method:

Put all the ingredients into a pan and bring to the boil until dissolved stirring constantly. Then bring to the boil again without stirring.

Drop a little of the toffee into a cup of cold water, if it goes hard it’s ready!

Pour into a lightly buttered dish and allow to cool. The larger the dish the thinner the toffee will be.

Before it has completely set, run the knife to outline squares.

This is really nice with fruit and nuts sprinkled into the dish before pouring the toffee in. It’s also lovely with melted chocolate poured over the top when set.
