Cheese & Ham Puffs
This is one of those recipes that can be thrown together when you have unexpected guests and you need to give them a bite to eat. It can be served with salad or oven chips or on a finger buffet. It’s so easy to prepare and you don’t have to spend too long in the kitchen!
Ingredients:
- Pack of puff pastry
- Grated cheese
- Ham or bacon bits, pepperoni etc
- Mustard or you can use Mayo
- Beaten egg
Method:
I always have a pack of frozen puff pastry in the freezer….just in case. Using one block of puff pastry cut in half and roll out to fit a standard size baking tray.
Put a big dollop of mustard and spread it evenly leaving about ½” around the edge. You can use mayo if you prefer or barbeque sauce anything you prefer.
Then put slices of ham over the top, again this can be bacon sausage or anything.
Sprinkle with grated cheese or mozzarella or any other cheese (cottage cheese doesn’t work)
Roll out the other half of the pastry and make a lid.
With the beaten egg, brush all around the edge and put the lid on the top, going round and piching and twisting the pastry together as you go. You need a good seal on this so nothing spills out.
Brush the top with the rest of the egg and put in a preheated oven 200° for 20 minutes or until it is well risen and golden brown.
Leave to rest for 10 minutes before portioning, it will deflate a little when you cut it.
It is so delicious and so quick and easy to prepare.
