Bottle gift bag
If you are gifting a bottle of wine for a special occasion you need an extra special package to put it in. I made this lovely bottle bag in Cath Kidston fabric in large spring fowers design and finished it off with a little padded heart.
This is how I made it:
You need 2 Pieces of fabric, one for the lining and the main fabric 35cm x 30cm. Fold the main fabric in half and sew a 1cm hem.
Fold over again, this time 4cm and sew 1 cm fold so its like a tube.
Face side up, lay the lining fabric on top and sew around 3 sides leaving the top open. Then turn right side out and sew the top opening closed. Cut a strip approx. 45cm x 2cm to make the tie. Fold one side then the other so they meet in the centre then fold in half again. pin it in place and sew up the whole length.
Thread this through the ‘sleeve’ using a safety pin to pull it through.
Turn inside out again and sew up the side just short of where the ties come out then turn right side out making sure the opening where the tie comes through is nice and neat then using a little offcut wrap it around the two open ends to join them together. Just butt them up to each other rather than overlap them its far neater and not so bulky. I tack this in place before machining its much easier as its a bit fiddly.
Sew up the final bit to the top and perfect! You can add little extras to personalise it, I put a little heart I made from the scraps.
