Padded Christmas tree

This little Christmas tree is a very quick project and can made from little pieces of remnant fabric. It takes about 45 minutes to complete and is a great starter project for children learning to sew. It doesn’t have to be made up on a sewing machine and you can choose any fabrics, felt would be good, but I have used printed cotton that was left over from another project.

This can be made to any size you want it to be, I chose to do a small one. The green triangles end up measuring 5 x 5 cm whilst the red ones are slightly bigger at 6 x 5 cm and the long red piece is 10 x 2.5 cm.

All you need to complete this project is a little fabric, stuffing, ribbon or string to hang and decorations (as many adornments as you like) 🙂

If you start off actually sewing the triangle shape before cutting the fabric it makes life so much easier. When all the triangles are cut out very lightly pad them and sew up the bottoms.

I have some very tiny bells for my decoration and I stitched these on at the same time as I stitched the triangle corners together. You get the gist of how to build up the triangles and the base from the photos 🙂

I attached a star button on the top, stitching a little loop of ribbon at the same time …..job done, hang up your tree  🙂
